Our floor is in dire need of replacement. Cheap asbestos tiles in mismatched
colors are chipped, cracked and peeling. This is problematic in significant ways.
First off, asbestos tiles pose a health hazard. Secondly, there are many uneven
surfaces where people can too easily trip. The floor makes our whole church look
shabby and neglected. The tiles are not the only problem with our floor. The wood underneath the fading and threadbare carpet has not been able to withstand the wear of so many years. In some places, you can feel the wood giving way beneath your feet. Old and nonfunctioning heating vents are hidden under the carpet, especially in the center aisle, and this creates yet another safety hazard. And the color of the sanctuary carpet clashes next to the red carpet of the aisle. Because this church welcomes visitors and guests from all over the city and even country, it is important that the flooring be safe, functional and beautiful. |
